Broad Band
Having fast, cheap, and efficient internet service is one of the most important things that a business can have today. Senator Snow has worked to implement the Balsam Fiber Network throughout Western North Carolina. Through a grant that Senator Snow helped secure from the Golden Leaf Foundation this broadband network will provide businesses, schools, and individuals with a stable high speed internet service 24 hours a day. This network will allow 70 schools and 3 community colleges to have access to the internet. This high speed network will allow businesses to compete in a global economy and give them the tools they need to market their products anywhere on earth.

Roads
Senator Snow has worked to protect and secure additional funding for our road system in Western North Carolina. So much of our commerce into the central and eastern portion of North Carolina is done by motor vehicle and the more efficient that our road systems are the more successful our business environment will be. While the Internet is our pathway to the world’s markets our road systems are our pathway to our local markets.

Economic Development
Senator Snow has worked with local governments and regional economic agencies to ensure that we are constantly seeking out and developing new opportunities for our area. We must be sure to look far and wide and make sure that we are recruiting the types of business that will make a positive contribution to our area. By prospecting for new business we ensure that we can make the turn from our traditional manufacturing and move into high-tech manufacturing.

Helping Business in Western North Carolina
Senator Snow voted for capping the gas tax in North Carolina. After explosive growth in the price of gas – capping the gas tax was the responsible thing to do as it cuts into the amount of money that families have to spend on far more important things.

Senator Snow understands the mounting costs to small business that comes with providing health insurance to employees. That is the reason that he voted to provide a tax credit to small businesses that provide health insurance for their employees, and cutting taxes for small business.
